The "hash" symbol...#

Too many people refer to this as the "hash" symbol, not knowing its correct name: "octathorpe"...

The Old English word "thorpe" is seen in place names [such as ScunTHORPE] meaning "village". The symbol of the double cross was used by map makers to indicate a village...surrounded by eight [hence "octa"] fields. When look again at the symbol, the central square represents the buildings, and the surrounding lines outline the eight fields. #

New Home Page

This is the command post for sutsci!

Depending on which course you are doing you will find hot links to the Awarding Body web sites on the left hand margin.

Anyone doing AS/A2 Chemistry in one year will be following EDEXCEL.
Candidates taking two years will be starting the OCR AS course.

For anyone, the test materials will be useful. Please do find the time to work through these.
